Feeding the butterflies

Today, Lauren brought in a plant for the butterflies. We discovered that they like the flowers better than the oranges. Once Lauren put the sugar water over them, all the butterflies rushed to the flowers and sucked the nectar out. When I went into the tent, I saw the butterfly's tounge sticking out and sipping the nectar. It was very cool. We had a fun time watching the butterflies eat.

10 Butterflies!!!

Boys and girls, we have TEN butterflies! You will get to see them on Monday!

They will not pose for pictures, and they are hard to see on the gray floor. Even the chrysalid that fell off transformed into a butterfly.

While I was feeding them, one got out! It took me a few minutes to get him back in. I think we might need a net.

See you Monday!

Still no butterflies

Sunday @ 9:30 AM.
Day 10 in the pupa stage.

The only change is one chrysalid fell off the paper disk. Hopefully, it will still become an adult.

I put oranges in the tent for them to eat. I will check back this afternoon to see if we have butterflies.

Walls of Jericho

In religion, the class made Walls of Jericho in groups. Check out their creations.

Hansel and Gretel Opera

Yesterday, we went to see the Hansel and Gretel Opera. Gretel and Hansel were into mischief again. This time they went deep into the forest. Then they fell asleep. Then when they woke up, they saw a  Gingerbread house with lemon windows, cookie doorsteps, and peppermint chimneys . Then a witch took Hansel and he was put in a cage. Gretel had to clean. Then the witch had a mischievous plan. She would cook Gretel . Then Gretel tricked the witch into getting into the oven . Then she was cooked into gingerbread. Then they lived happily ever after with their mother and father. We enjoyed the opera. The people sang beautifully.

All Saints' Day

On All Saints' Day, we all dressed up like our saint (not Drew Brees).  We wrote a speech on our laptops about a saint that we chose. We researched our saint using our laptops going on the internet. I have got to admit speaking in front of 200 people is NOT fun. Dressing up like a saint was different.
